Grilling Aprons and Apparel: You Don't Just Look The Part You Are The Part

Sure, some people think that grilling aprons and other barbecue apparel is just an excuse for adults to play dress up.  While it is true that donning your grill clothes does help put you in the grill mindset, they also are in place for many reasons.

Take the apron, sure they do have some cute sayings on them and can sure make a statement, but they also help keep stains from ruining your favorite clothes.  Not to mention making the person who washes the clothes happy.  You don't have to be careful basting that roast - just slop on the glaze and your apron takes care of the rest.  They also assist should there be an accidental fire; your apron will be another barrier between you and the flames and can also be used to snuff out an errant burning ember - not that we would know personally.

The hat, like the apron usually makes some social statement but shields your face from the sun which helps keep you from sunburn and is also great hygiene - no stray hair in your food.  And try turning a heavy piece of meat like a roast without gloves, well if you do, let us know what it was like after you get back from the local burn center.
